Exploring the Inner Landscape of Maybe Someday I’ll...
For as long as I can remember, my husband and I would tell ourselves, “Maybe someday we will buy property, or maybe some day, we will have a cabin in the mountains, or someday we will build a house." The reality was that maybe someday was merely wishful thinking, and as much as we wished something to be a reality, without clear intention and a plan of action to make the dream a reality, all it really was, was an unrealized dream.
My husband and I have always enjoyed camping and hiking, and there is one special place in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California we visited again and again. On the lake next to the campground we stayed was a beautiful rustic lodge, that I would look at and think I sure wish we could stay there. Maybe someday we will be able to afford it. We never took action on that wish. One day out of curiosity I called to see how much a cabin would cost for a weeks stay, and to my surprise it was affordable, in fact we continued to stay at the lodge for several summers with other members of our family. The real drawback was not being able to bring our dog who loved to hike and swim with us. During one such stay, my husband and I were in sitting on the deck of our cabin and he said "I could handle owning a cabin about this size” this was a little one bedroom on a hill with a beautiful view of the lake. Those words set into action at a commitment to find a little place in the Sierras by August of that year.
I went on the internet, started a cabin search and found there were several cabins that looked promising and were within our budget. We looked at several pieces of property, but nothing seemed right. It is so interesting how a picture or a well written blurb can make a mediocre listing seem wonderful. On one such trip, we visited the American River Canyon which is very close to the Lake we love so much. We walked into one cabin and I burst into tears, and I could see my husband vibrating with enthusiasm. We knew immediately that this is the ONE. Of course it was bigger than we asked for, more than we planned on spending, and on a river, not a lake. We took possession by October of that year, just four months from the day we made the commitment to find a cabin.
This has proved a valuable lesson for both of us. We both tend to live in the world of maybe someday. By creating a clear vision of what we wanted, and then taking what ever action was necessary to allow the grace to flow, we can received what we asked for, with results that far exceeded the original vision.
When we Explore our inner landscape we find a universe that is boundless, we have the ability to create anything we want and to live in the abundance we deserve. The Inner landscape isn’t just about making art, writing or making music, though it can be those things, it is also about creating the world you want to live in. To create what you want to be and do, and to recognize and be who you truly are.
I share this very concrete anecdote because there are even greater somedays we project into the universe and into our realities. When we tell ourselves some day in the future we will do or become something with out a clear intention and a plan of action, we automatically place blocks and limitations that prevent us from achieving that dream. Know this you create who and what you are, and have the power and ability to become all that you wish and desire. For this to take place, several things must happen: First take some time to see what is holding you back and why, for me it is fear. Second listen to and acknowledge your inner voice. The experience of inner knowing can come in many ways, briefly, just looking at a sunset, and recognizing the profound beauty that exits within and without our universe can bring you closer to your inner essence. Once we can touch the greatness of the inner and outer vibration that brings us into connection, we begin to trust our inner voice, and freely accept what is naturally ours to receive and to share. |
